On all fours!

I have made 2 different blogs saying that I did not think Barron would ever crawl on all fours.  Well I was wrong!!!  I do not know what happened but something clicked Saturday night after we got home from Colorado.  I was getting Barron's bath going when I looked back to see him entering the bathroom on his knees.  It was hilarious.  He does not go the full distance on his knees, he goes about 4 steps and then reverts back to the soldier crawl.

Even though we are perfecting the crawling I think we may be walking soon.  Barron has started putting his hands beside him so that he is standing there on his own.  He can stand there for about 20 seconds or so.  He gets real excited and then looses his balance.  He has also realized that if you get on your knees its easier to pull yourself up.  Here he is being a typical Krutz watching the sunset!

Barron was so sweet to come help me with the dishes:

Yesterday I was having the hardest time to get Barron to take his second nap of the day.  He is just not as tired as he used to be.  I decided to just put him in his crib and leave.  I went down stairs and was listening to him over the monitor (which is not a video monitor but have now gotten one) when he started making weird noices.  I went up there and this is what I see:

A lot has happened in the last 2 weeks so I can only imagine what he will be doing in the next.  It is sad to see the immobile stage go but I am so excited for him at the same time.  Watching him learn is very rewarding.

Ski Trip

Every year we go skiing with Bryan's family to Beaver Creek.  This year we had 2 babies in tow. Barron has become a really good traveling companion.  We get a lot of attention from people.  He smiles at everyone, if they don't look at him he stares them down until they do, so that he can smile at them.  It is really funny.

Here is both Dads giving the Mom's a break to eat dinner.  Never thought we would see that!

We got the babysitter one night so we could go to dinner.  Every year we go to the Minturn Country Club where you cook your own steaks.  It's always a fun time.

By the end of the week, Barron had still not touched the snow.  So we bundled him up and took him out there.  When we set him down he accidently put his hands in it and hated it.  Instantly started fussing.  We got some cute pictures though.

9 Month Update

Barron turned 9 months a couple of weeks ago.  It is hard to believe how close we are to him turning one. When we went to the doctors office he measured the biggest yet in the percentiles.  He weighed 25.8 pounds (97%), he was 29 1/4 inches long (95%), and his head size was in the 97%.  It is unbelievable to me how fast they grow their first year.
Our crawling is still not done on all fours and I really do not think that it will.  He has gotten surprisingly fast in his form.  The best way for me to describe it is he looks like a soldier crawling through a field.  I tried to put a very short video of it on here, but after 2 hours of it down loading I gave up.  If Barron is in the kitchen he is going to go right for Bailey's bowl.  That is what he is doing here:

We are in the process of trying to get him to take a sippy cup.  He likes the apple juice we put in it, he just prefers someone to hold it for him.  He is getting closer all of the time.  Bailey enjoys getting the juice that drops out.

We have also begun giving Barron pretty much anything that is on our plate.  You can give him one small bite and he smacks on it for 10 minutes.  It keeps him busy so Bryan and I get a chance to eat.
We have always loved bath time but we really love it when we get to do it with our Dad.  (If you are wondering Bryan does have a swimsuit on!)  Dylan loves to watch also.

Barron meets Patrick

Last Wednesday Bryan's brother Patrick and his wife Rebecca came to visit and brought their 7 week son, Patrick.  Barron has never been around a baby that was younger than him and we were all interested in how he was going to react.  For 9 months now Barron has been the only "baby in town."  Bryan's parents decided they had to come if they were going to have both Grand-baby's in one place.

Barron of course wanted to make sure his Grandmother new how much he loved him, especially now that he has competition.  Here he is giving her a kiss!!!

Barron really was sweet to Patrick.  He really wanted to touch him.  I of course was always scared he was going to scratch or hit him.  But for the most part he was pretty gentle.

It was hard to take a picture of both of them without anybody else in it.  For one Patrick doesn't sit up and then Barron is not big enough to hold him.  But we got a few.

Barron's Moves

As precious as I think a baby is that crawls, I have been informed that Barron probably will not. I also think a baby with a pacifier in their mouth is precious and Barron hated them. Oh well, he does many other things that I think are adorable and I guess I will hope for the next child to do those things. I don't know for sure, but I was told by a reliable source that once they start pulling themselves with their hands and on their belly's they usually do not crawl.  It's pretty hilarious to watch but he actually can get to those toys that he use to not be able to.  Sometimes he will get on all fours until he sees something he wants and gets back on the belly to slither over there.
We have gotten good at standing.  He can pretty much stand on his own while holding onto something.  We are still figuring out the moving of the feet, it's coming.

He loves Bailey, but he is starting to get a little rough with her.  He doesn't understand to be gentle yet, he just loves her ears and tries to pull them.  She is always sweet and stays there while he does it.

Christmas

I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed Christmas this year. Barron is at an age that is really fun. I did not realize until this past week how much of an entertainer he is. It was fun to watch him interact with my family and keep everyone laughing.
On Christmas Eve, we had my Granddad, Aunt Lauren, and Aunt Leslie over for Turkey Dinner.

Later that night, Bryan and Wiley put together Barron's toys while we watched Christmas Vacation.

The next morning we dressed Barron up as Santa Claus and brought him in the room to see his presents. Bryan wanted to video "Barron's view of entering the room." Barron learned to clap a few weeks ago and is obsessed with it. That is what he is doing here:

Grandmom and Granddad Hutchins gave Barron this blue car. It has been a hit!

Santa Claus left Barron this rocking horse. We have a little longer until we can really play on it, but it looks cute in his room!

Aunt Amy and Uncle Wiley entertaining Barron in his car!

Every year on Christmas day the men go hunting after Brunch and usually the women go to a movie. The men still went but Amy and Mom were nice enough to stay home with me and Barron.

Traveling to Mississippi got easier when we purchased a Suburban back in August. We are able to take with us pretty much everything that Barron needs, by doing that we are always full. We were pretty packed down heading to Mississippi so you can imagine how packed we were leaving after Christmas. Bryan was able to fit everything in and even found some room for Bailey and Dylan.

Barron and Grace

While we were in Oxford, Barron got to see Grace Watkins again. She is the granddaughter of my In-Laws best friends, W.G. and Polly. She is 9 days older than Barron and absolutely precious. The first time they met was when they were 5 and 6 weeks old, back in May (I did a post on it if you are curious).
To set the scene for you I must let you know a little information on Grace. She is the youngest of 4 kids and 8 grandchildren. When Cherry, Barron, and I went to see her the entire Watkins clan was there. Barron on the other hand is the first child and grandchild, his play time is with dogs!!! When Barron and Grace first saw each other Grace was soooo excited.

Here is her reaction:

Unfortunately, here is Barron's reaction:

Grace is very vocal and Barron usually is, but while he was there he was pretty quiet. Barron eventually settled down and started getting use to all of the loud noises and kids running around.

But for the most part he new he couldn't take his eyes off of her. He pretty much starred at her the entire time with his hands in his mouth studying her. It was sweet.

I am sure there are going to be more posts on Grace in the future. Hopefully we will not be as shy the next time.
